Spring Coaching Network October 18, 2010

Rick Warren has said so many times that pastors are the most underrated change agents in the world. As I approach the eleven year mark on being a senior pastor and having the privilege of meeting more and more pastors I am seeing a very disturbing pattern.

Pastors are fried–lonely–confused–frustrated–and desperate.  (According to a recent survey I saw…about 90% of the people entering the ministry today DO NOT finish in the ministry!) We want to do what is right…but there seems to be constant pressure coming at us from all sides. How do we know what to do next? How do I handle this staffing issue? How can I structure my schedule to maximize my time? Those are a few of the questions that are being asked.

So, a couple of years ago, after a lot of prayer and consideration I decided to do a coaching network for senior pastors…and through it we’ve seen Jesus do some REALLY amazing things!

So…here’s the deal…we’ve got another one coming up this spring, there will be four sessions and the dates we will be meeting are all on a Thursday and are…

• January 13
• February 17
• March 10 (this is our annual Unleash Conference…you will receive five free registrations and we will also host a private lunch with you, your spouse if she chooses to attend and a few other pastors as well.)
• April 14 (this last session will be a chance for you to bring 2-3 staff members with you and allow them to meet with any of our staff at NewSpring that they wish to meet with.)

If you are interested in being a part of this network then you can go to our Unleash ministry website (where there are tons of free resources) and fill out the application.

VERY IMPORTANT – The cost to be a part of this network is $1,500.  Applications are due for the network no later than 5pm on Thursday, November 11th (we will be accepting 15-20 applicants), applicants will be notified as to whether they were accepted into the network by Thursday, December 2 and payment will be due in full by Monday, January 3.

• There is a time commitment – the sessions will be from 9:30 am until 4:00 pm on 1-13, 2-17, 3-10 (UNLEASH) and 4-14.
• There is a financial commitment – the cost to be in the network is $1,500…payable to NewSpring Church.
• There is an attitude commitment – I am looking/praying for leaders who are HUNGRY and willing to do whatever it takes to grow.
• There is a “seek Jesus” commitment – I will not promise you that if you join this network your church will see amazing results…but I will promise you that you will be challenged to seek HIM with all you’ve got…and that you will be challenged and stretched as a leader.

Coaching Network Update… May 10, 2010

We’re still taking applications for our fall coaching network.  (I posted here last week in regards to the dates and contact information to receive an application.)  The deadline for applications is THIS Friday at 5pm and we’ve been blown away by the response so far…lots of applications requests and we still have a week to go…so…if you think this is something you may want to dive into then click on the link in this post, contact Karla to get an application, and we will be in touch in the next few weeks.

(I really do wish we could take every applicant…but because we want to keep the number of participants at around 20 or under we have this process in place…and I have a team of people who assist me in prayerfully selecting the applicants.  We take this network pretty seriously…we don’t just meet four times and then kick people to the curb…I literally have a team of people who minister to the pastors during the network…AND afterwards as well!  The goal of this network isn’t to gather pastors…but to literally minister to them!)

Can’t wait to get this started!

• August 12
• September 9
• October 14 (this is actually an event called “mini Unleash” where every pastor can bring as many staff and volunteers as he wants to our church that day, they all get to sit in on our all staff meeting, we have a GREAT lunch and then there are specific breakouts for the rest of the day that include youth ministry, children’s ministry, volunteers, pastoral care, finances…and whatever else we can do to serve the people who attend.
• November 18

If you are interested in being a part of this network then please email Karla Temples here at NewSpring Church…her email address is karla.temples@newspring.cc She will send you an application that must be filled out and sent back in no later than 5pm on Friday, May 17th!!!  We are only going to be able to accept around 15-20 people and so the sooner you can get this back to her…the better!)

(BTW…be nice to her!!! There was a dude the last time we had applications that called in and was rude to her…I found out and ripped up his application and threw it in the garbage. If you cannot treat people respectfully then you don’t need to be in a coaching network…you need to go back to K-5!)

The cost for being a part of this network is $1,500…if your application is accepted you will be notified by June 2nd and the payment to participate in the network will be due no later than June 12th.

Coaching Network Openings December 9, 2009

This past April I blogged about a coaching network that I was starting here at NewSpring…and was overwhelmed with the response.  We not only filled up the spots for the fall of this year…but the spring of 2010 as well.

However, due to some unforeseen circumstances with some of the guys that were originally accepted in the network, we’ve had about three spots open up…and so I wanted to put this post out there to any senior pastor who may be interested.

There are several commitments involved with this…

• There is a time commitment – the sessions will be from 9:30 am until 4:00 pm on 1-21-10, 2-18-10, 4-22-10, and 5-13-10.
• There is a financial commitment – the cost to be in the network is $1,500…payable to NewSpring Church.
• There is an attitude commitment – I am looking/praying for leaders who are HUNGRY and willing to do whatever it takes to grow.

Coaching Network Update… April 13, 2009

Last week I posted about cranking up a second round of a coaching network that is going to begin this fall (here is the post in case you missed it)..and I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the response.

We will be taking applications throughout the month of April – and you can get an application by emailing my assistant, Lindsay Taguba.  (Her email address is lindsay.taguba@newspring.cc).

In May I will set up a team to help me pray through and sort out the applications…and in August we will get things ROLLING.
