“WELCOME TO MOE’S!!!”

Finally—Moe‘s came to Anderson!!!

For those who are unaware of what Moe’s is…it is Southwestern food at its finest.  There are some seriously huge burritos in that place—chips—cheese dip—salsa…I could go on and on…I have eaten there twice this week.

(On a side note—a miracle of Biblical proportions took place last night…I actually got Lucretia to eat there!!!  SERIOUSLY—she doesn’t eat ANYTHING that slightly resembles Mexican food!)

It’s a cool place—you walk in and people scream, “Welcome to Moe’s!”  And the menu is interesting to say the least…I can’t really comment on it…you’ve got to go and see it for yourself.

One of the things I will comment on though is a menu item called, “A cup of fat.”  I am serious—its right there on the menu—along with the rest of the stuff.  And the price?  $9.99

This caught my attention right from the start…I had been told about it—but when I saw it I could not stop wondering about it.  I figured something called “a cup of fat” that cost ten bucks had to be pretty good stuff.

So I was in there on Tuesday and I asked about it—the burrito artist behind the counter smiled at me and said, “Dude—that item does not exist—the only reason it is on the menu is to get people to ask questions.”

Well—it got me!  I loved the idea because of the creativity; however, I have been thinking about this since Tuesday and I have had the following thoughts…

I think we treat God like that at times—don’t you?  I mean, we have all prayed that prayer, “God, I am serious—I will do anything—go anywhere—blah, blah, blah…”  However, when God speaks and begins to lead us…and it isn’t the most convenient thing for us—we often times tell God, “that’s not on the menu.”

As Christians I think we are all guilty of saying things—making promises—putting things on the menu and telling God, “If you order it—then I’ll make it.”  But then God begins to speak—to lead our hearts…and we make excuses such as “the supply truck hasn’t arrived,” or, “that menu item has been discontinued,” OR, “I didn’t really mean to put that item there—it’s really just to see if You would ask questions.”

Is there any area on the menu of your life that is off limits to God?  How about your finances?  Your marriage?  Your dating life?  The area of forgiveness?  You know—as I have been reading through Scripture I have discovered that God pretty much has an opinion on EVERYTHING…AND…He’s always right!!!  Yet often times we will hold out because we think our ideas are better.

So let me ask it again…in another way…is there any area of your life that you are holding back from Jesus?  Is there any area of your life that if He clearly spoke to you today that you would look back and tell Him that the menu item that He requested is not an option?  I challenge you today to take a look and see…and to place everything at His feet!!!

One more thing on this—some say, “Well, if I turn that area over to God He might mess things up!”  Seriously—I think we all have a really good track record of messing things up WITHOUT His help—He’s the one that can patch things up if we will simply be submissive to Him!!!

In other news…

We have a 12 mile run tomorrow…and to be honest, I’m a little bummed!  I mean—we did 15 two weeks ago…and 16 last week…12 might be a let down!!!  (OK—I am officially a freak!!!)

This Saturday is when we spring forward—DON’T FORGET to wind your clocks forward ONE HOUR!

Uh, Mark—bravo for this post—I seriously think we are related somehow!  We think so much alike!

Sunday’s is the Lord’s Supper at NewSpring!  Lucretia and I were talking about the fact that every time we celebrate this sacred ritual at NewSpring that God moves in a powerful way!  I am so looking forward to what is going to happen!!!

Have a great weekend!!!
