Going Back To MiMi’s

Last night Lucretia and I went to MiMi’s Cafe in Greenville.  We had never been there before and wanted to try something new.  SEVERAL people had recommended to check it out…so we figured we had nothing to lose.

I was SO impressed.  The service was excellent…the food was off the chain!  (I had the almond crusted mahi mahi…and I got their smores dessert thing–DANG!  ‘Cretia got their chicken pot pie and thought it was a definite hit!)

But one of the things that really impressed me was one of the managers came to our table with a box of muffins.  He said that he had heard it was our first time there and wanted to know how everything was…then he gave us the muffins (which I was hoping he would do–they looked awesome) and thanked us for trying them out.

Like I said…I’m going back simply because I wasn’t treated as a common customer…but rather a special guest.

I believe church should be the same even better.

One of the things I say around here at NewSpring a lot is…”Every week is someone’s first week.”  Seriously–every single week we are going to have people walk in the doors who have never been here before.  Maybe they are church shopping.  Maybe they are desperate.  Maybe their lives are falling apart–I have no idea.  I just know they show up…

AND…you really do only get one chance to make a first impression.

Here is where it gets interesting…statistics show that a person usually makes up their mind whether or not they are going to come back to a church within the first 10 minutes of actually being present on site–pastors–that means they haven’t even heard the message yet!!!

WHICH MEANS…here at NewSpring…our VOLUNTEERS are not just people out there filling a spot–they are making a difference!!!  They are the first people that guests every week see and have interaction with.  Volunteers matter–WAY more than some people think!

If you are a volunteer here at NewSpring Church–THANK YOU for making such a huge impact…you aren’t just parking cars, greeting people and keeping the nursery…you are making a difference in God’s Kingdom…a difference that will carry eternal weight.

Every week is someones first week!  I am looking forward to this Sunday.
