Sunday Night Reflections

Today at NewSpring Church was INCREDIBLE…at least that is what I was told through a few e-mails from people who were there because…I wasn’t. :-)

Last Tuesday Lucretia and I got up WAY before the sun, kissed Charisse goodbye (don’t worry, someone WAS with her), got on a plane (interesting story for another time) and flew…OUT of the United States!

It was our first REAL vacation since last March when we went to Vegas…and I was sick just about the whole time–so, we don’t really count that one.

It’s been nice–we’ve slept late everyday, read by the pool, went to the gym, eaten lots of food…and I even bought my first speedo…

JUST KIDDING!

I personally believe that one of the best things parents can do to provide security for their kids is to take vacations…without them! Trust me, it was SO hard leaving Charisse last Tuesday morning…but it has been so nice to be somewhere where I have been able to give Lucretia my complete time and attention.

This coming Tuesday we’ve been married for EIGHT YEARS! (She deserves a medal!) This trip was a celebration of all that God has done for us…and all that we anticipate that He is about to do! I LOVE just being with her…holding her hand, walking and talking…and seeing her smile.

Pastors (or ANYONE for that matter)–marriages don’t just “get healthy,” you must work to keep them in shape–and going away, just the TWO of you, for several days is a necessity in my opinion. It doesn’t have to be out of the country…it can just be out of the county…BUT either way a couple has to have intentional time to focus on one another. :-)

We are BOTH looking forward to getting home and seeing our little girl…but…it’s been awesome to have a week away. I am refreshed…and SO READY for next Sunday.

Please keep us in your prayers as we travel home on Monday.

(For those who may be thinking, “You didn’t take that much of a vacation…you blogged all week last week…actually, I didn’t. I did those posts pre vacation and time stamped them to go up on certain days at certain times. I haven’t really even been on the computer much this week…something else Lucretia definitely appreciated!)
