Sunday Night Reflections…
Right now I am sitting here in my office typing away on my computer…and for the first time in weeks I do not feel like a used wash rag! :-) Saying that–here are a few thoughts…
- It was nice to have a break today. Looking back I taught 11 straight weeks–and I will not be doing that again…it was fun but wasn’t healthy!
- Don’t get me wrong–we saw God do some incredible things during that time, but rest is necessary! I am constantly convicted of this–especially when I read the 10 commandments and see every single time that God spent a lot of time explaining what a Sabbath was…He
wasis serious about that–so serious that He included it in His top ten! - How awesome is that? We serve a God who says, “Hey, take a day off!”
- Leaders, your church needs you to strategically NOT be there from time to time. This is hard for leaders to accept because many times we want to think that we are needed in order for things to run properly.
- Clayton preached an incredible message today…I was able to sneak in the first service and catch his talk, but tonight I stayed at home, hung out with my girls and watched football!
- Clayton’s message was incredible…something every church needs to hear in regards to praying for and supporting their pastor. NewSpring, seriously, you guys rock…it is an honor and privilege to pastor this church…I love this place and feel blessed to be a part of all that God is doing!
- This afternoon Lucretia asked me to please come in the living room and kill “a bug.” When I got down in the floor with it she said, “It may be a spider!” Uh…IT WAS!!! I hate spiders, they make me scream like a girl–but I killed it–with a shotgun–and we are all safe now!
- Tonight I ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut–meat lovers! I NEVER do that…but it was awesome, and so was order of cinnamon bread! I am going to have to run 12 miles in the morning…but it was worth every bite!
- Clemson was off this weekend…I missed them not playing football–but like I said, everyone needs a break.
- Like I said on the video–our church has pledged over $13 million so far–and the pledges are still coming in…more about that tomorrow.
- Next week we begin our parenting series–check out the website here! Folks, this site both blows my mind AND kicks me in the gut…I had no idea that there were that many issues between kids and parents.
- Tony let the cat out of the bag on Friday with this post in regards to me speaking at C3 next year. I will have to be honest–with the line up they have I pretty much feel like a mule that is being allowed to run in the Kentucky Derby! I am so honored that they would have me…and I am already getting a little nervous!
- Just read through the book of Daniel and am now in Hosea–more thoughts to come on that later.
- It’s getting cold outside–THAT’S AWESOME! :-)
- We are just about complete with the speaking/topic schedule for next year–wow–God is leading us down some incredible paths…I think we are going to see Him do some incredible things. AND…in February we will be doing another series that we’ve NEVER done before at NewSpring…and I am sure it will cause quite a stir.
- Charisse is going to begin eating rice cereal this week…not quite sure how that is going to turn out…but it should be fun!
That’s about it for now…going to bed!
