Friday Mind Dump…

Here goes…

• I am getting a haircut today!  YEAH!
• MAYBE while I am in Greenville I will find a Starbucks…there ISN’T one in Anderson!  I know, I know, one is coming…the way things are looking I am thinking that Jesus will actually come back to earth before a Starbucks makes it to A-town!!!
• My posts this week on being fat generated a lot of e-mails.  Let me just say this…to those who let me know you are trying to lose weight…GO FOR IT…you can do this!!!  Once again–it is a spiritual issue that will take will power.
• I sat at a round table yesterday will Bill Hybels.  That dude blows me away…here he is, the “guru” of church leadership…and he spent a lot of time asking questions.  I wrote down in my notebook, “If I ever think I have arrived & don’t need to learn anymore…I’m done!”
• I wrote down in my notebook this week, “What if the church ever truly understood that EVERYTHING we do is a reflection to a lost world of who Jesus is?”  That question is something I have wrestled with all week long…and I hope it dominates my thinking for the rest of my life.
• The temptation to get into a blog fight was very real yesterday…some dude e-mail me (anonymously) and misquoted Scripture in an attempt to attack NewSpring.  However, I was reminded that the enemy is NOT a blogger or an e-mailer…the true enemy is satan…Paul reminds us of this in Ephesians 6:12.
• THAT is the reason I do not get involved in e-mail wars and blog debates anymore.  I am sick and tired of Christians standing around seeing who can pee the furtherest…hell is a real place…I really don’t want people to go there…and my focus is going to be on seeing people come to Christ and NOT Christians who seem to think they already have it figured out anyway.
• My body is STILL recovering from a really “brilliant” idea I had this past Monday of going for a long run at a fast pace.  NOT SMART!!!
• I am REALLY looking forward to speaking on Sunday!  A week off from speaking is SO refreshing.
• I finished the messages for The Gauntlet (our youth beach camp) this week.  DANG!  I am SO PUMPED about getting to hang out with our teenagers for a whole week.  AND…the hotel we are staying in has a Starbucks in the lobby!!  :-)  I am so happy!
• Lucretia and I are getting more and more excited about our little girl arriving on scene!!!  People are asking & so I will go ahead and shamelessly say that we are registered at Babies ‘R Us…you can check it out on-line if you would like.
• A church planted e-mailed me yesterday and told me that he has a chance to buy a mosque in his community.  That would be incredible!!!  I am praying for this dude…but I will not break his story here because I want him to have the opportunity.
• I am going to wear shorts today…and I think I have the whitest legs in the world!  No, wait–that would be Jon McDerment…I have the 2nd whitest!!!
